I have the same question, what happened to the prior shed plans that used 2×6 lumber for the rafters, and had optional front overhang? I am in the middle of building it and needed some reference material.

Just built this shed, thanks for the great plans. We used post-to-beam brackets to attach the gambrels, and added joist hangars around them to run 2×6 joists across 2/3s of the length to create loft storage. The only real point of confusion is the interface between the roof and the sides, which we dealt with by just having the roof overhang by a couple of inches. Thanks!

What should the measurement be at the bottom of the rafters point to point? I assumed it would be 10 feet, but mine came up 3 inches short?

WARNING: Do not use these plans if this is your first time building a shed. SO MUCH is left out. We used these plans and are up to the point of putting the roof on. Notice that the walls are 12′ long exactly but the graphic shows being able to use a 2×4 on either end for trim and have the plywood cover the 2×4 trim. This is impossible considering you only have 12 foot of plywood to use. (one 4×8 sheet and half of a 4×8 sheet). There is so much left out of this. How does the roofing sheeting go on? How does the drip edge go on? How does the trim go on? I thought that we could just “figure it out” as we went along but it has caused so much headaches not having a complete plan. It’s hard enough to get a project like this finished in your spare time let alone a project with incomplete plans. The roof is the most important part too, it’s what keeps your stuff DRY which is the whole point of a SHED (to SHED water).

They are FREE plans. If you’ve never built a shed or don’t have general measuring and building knowledge, you should probably spend money on COMPLETE plans. Otherwise these plans worked just fine.

So, after having looked at the plans you should have a 6″ over lap on both roof ends as well as all of the roof trusses in over the side walls in order to put on trim and a drip edge on both side walls. You will need to lengthen the top of the roof trusses accordingly while keeping the 22.5 degree angle. Just cut your upper floor supports to length from 2x6x12’s instead of 2X6x10’s. However you will need to measure and cut supports for the area with no upper floor. That can be achieved by attaching notched 2×4 / 2×6 lumber to come down from the center area of the upper truss area to the over lap the lower ends of the trusses overhang. Don’t forget to trim and use the angles properly to fit this whole overhang properly. This area must be closed giving you a soffit to attach guters and trim to. Also, build small ladder frames to attach the building end supports over the top of the wall siding and it will finish the look for the shed, and don’t forget to finish that soffit area as well. Also, I would put a would put a drip rail, 3 to 6 inches wide and 6 inches past the side of the doors to keep that door frame as dry as possible.

I did not receive them, either, or for the porch swing, firewood shed. I checked spam & promotions folders, nothing in either. I also noticed there was no option for me to put in my email when requesting the download, but when I click on download, it says thank you & that a pdf will arrive in my email. But how could it when there was no option to put in my address?

I found a website that is very helpful with the rafters and how to tie them in. You can select overhang (or not) and gussets and it creates a template for you. Made the roof/wall tie in a lot less puzzling that some others have commented on.

Otherwise, these plans are awesome. Thank you very much!

Just finished this shed. couple things to note that we found along the way – as mentioned previously.. plan to leave an overhang on your roof to install drip edge. the front and back (10′ walls) are fine, but where the angled roof meets up is a pain to get drip edge installed on.. save yourself the hassle and add an overhang (I have no major construction experience to provide on how this can be accomplished sadly…)

Another thing… for your studs on the walls… ADD 1-1/2″…. (instead of 7′ – 6″… cut your studs to 7′ – 7-1/2″) The reason I say this.. is the walls will then measure out to the 96″ needed to use full sheets of plywood on the interior… as the plan lays out, your inside walls measure out to 94-1/2″… meaning we have to shave that bit off each sheet..
