Who doesn’t love gummies and chocolate?
Gummies are such a fun snackthat both kids and adults can enjoy.I am not a fan of the store-bought onesthough. They are heavily processed, have loads of sugar, and contain sub-par ingredients. Homemade ones are so easy to make! Plus they only have a few ingredients.
I put a lot of time into making sure my oldest daughter’sschool lunch is packed with real food. My Little Love doesn’t usually eat the way the rest of my family does. I don’t place the “picky” label on her, she just eats differently at this time. Sometimes I struggle to come up with lunch ideas that are both fun, filling and nourishing. It’s not always easy.
This is one reason why I lovegummiesso much.It’sreally easy to sneak good stuff into them like probiotics, vitamins and evenelderberry syrup. I know I can pack them in her lunch and she’ll at least get some protein + all of the nourishing benefits of the gelatin. Win!
Grass-fed gelatin is AMAZING stuff! It’s a superfood that’s a wonderful + healthy addition to a real food diet.
Benefits of Gelatin
- Gelatinhelps heal the gut and restore the gut lining. How cool is that? It evenhelps soothe the intestinal tract and reduce inflammation. This is one of the reasons it’s helpful to consume when you’re sick. It’s very gentle on the stomach too.
- Gelatin is known to help build stronger bones, stronger nails + improve dental health.
- Gelatin is great for supporting healthy skin, hair and nails.
- Gelatin is great for supporting joint health + it’s known to help reduce joint pain.
- Gelatin is a good source of protein. This is a plus for me since my oldest doesn’t always eat a well-balanced diet. I can pack a few of these in her lunch or give her some for an afternoon snack and know she’ll get a little boost of protein.
Making homemade gummies is so easy!
It only takes around 15 minutes to throw everything together + they set up super quick too. Within an hour you can enjoy this delicious healthy snack. And your kids will thank you! Especially when you let them know that they’re CHOCOLATE GUMMIES!
I don’t know about you, but I am a HUGE fan of chocolate. I love it, and I have no guilt around it … life is too short not to enjoy the little things. My kids happen to love chocolate too, big surprise there. Both Little Love and Tiny Love get so excited when I tell them I’m making Chocolate Gummies. Why? Because, as Little Love says, they taste like hot chocolate and marshmallows. Yum!
My kiddos also get excited when I make gummies because it means they get to help in the kitchen. It’s so fun to get your kids in the kitchen with you. Even if they’re little, there’s always some kind of task you can give to your toddlers. Little Love is old enough to be at the stove and she does the stirring of the “hot chocolate” and Tiny Love helps me pour, sprinkle and stir. The flavor of the these alone is the main reason why they love this healthy snack, but I also think kids will enjoy food more when they have helped make it.
So get in the kitchen and call in some little helpers if you have them around … and enjoy making this super easy, delicious + fun snack! If you’d like some more inspiration for other fruit flavored gummy recipes, I’ve collected a bunch of homemade gummy + fruit snack recipes from some other bloggers to share with you too.

Yield: 25 gummies
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 1 minute
Total Time: 31 minutes
Delicious, nourishing, and healthy chocolate gummies everyone will love.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups raw/organic/grass-fed whole milk, divided
- 2 tablespoons raw organic cacao powder
- 1/4 cup light colored raw honey {not wildflower honey, the flavor is too overpowering}
- 2 teaspoons organic vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- 6 tablespoonsgrass-fed gelatin {I usethisbrand*}
- Probiotics capsule{optional}
Instructions
- Add half of the milk toa large bowl or large measuring cup.Sprinkle the gelatin over the milkin the bowl/measuring cup. Set aside. It will start to gel or solidify as it sits.
- Add cacao powder, honey, vanilla and sea salt to a small saucepan. Stir until everything is combined and becomes a chocolate syrup. If the honey is harder, you can turn the heat onto medium-low while you stir. Add half of the milkto the saucepan with the chocolate syrup. Gently warm over medium-low heat - do NOTbring it to a simmer or a boil.The chocolate milk should only be warm to the touch.
- Add chocolate milkinto a blender, then add the gelatin milk and emptied contents of 1 probiotic capsule. Pulse just until combined.I used my Blendtec blender and pulsed 3 times. If you don't have a blender, you can just add the gelatin milk to the warmed chocolate milk, whisking vigorously until gelatin is dissolved. You will probably have some gelatin lumpsleft over, but no worries, you'll strain it.
- Using a fine-mesh strainer, pour chocolate gelatin mixture through strainer into alarge bowl/large measuring cup or directly into medium glass dish if you're NOTusing silicone molds.
- If you're using silicone molds, pour strained chocolate gelatin mixture into molds.
- Place molds or glass dish into refrigerator for about 1 hour or moreto set.
- Remove chocolate gummies from molds or if using a glass dish, slice into bite size pieces.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
VARIATION:
Make Chocolate Peppermint Gummies. Add 1 drop or less of therapeutic-grade Peppermint essential oil. You can do this by taking a toothpick and barely dipping it in the essential oil, then swirl the toothpick into the finished chocolate gelatin mixture. Please only use therapeutic-grade essential oils for cooking - most essential oils are perfume-grade and not safe for consumption.Click here to find out where I buy pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils at wholesale price.You can also use 1/2 teaspoon of organic peppermint extract instead.
Dairy-Free Version: Use full-fat organic coconut milk in place of the milk.
