Hello friends and Happy Friday!!

If you’ve been following along on Kitchen Konfidence for the past couple of months, I’m sure you noticed that I’ve been sharing a number of co*cktail recipes all made with Olmeca Altos Tequila. Well they recently launched Altos Añejo, a gold tequila aged for 18 months in oak barrels. Rich and smooth, Altos Añejo has flavor notes of wood, vanilla and chocolate along with dried fruit and almond aromatics. This tequila has so much character, it can easily be enjoyed as is on the rocks. Here, I’ve paired the Añejo with a number of orangey things, including fresh orange juice, Aperol, orange liqueur and orange bitters. Continue reading for the co*cktail recipe.
No matter what type of tequila you are drinking, orange is always a good pairing. In this Orange Crush co*cktail recipe, I’ve blended 4 orange-flavored ingredients to create a massive punch of orange. Orange liqueur and Aperol add concentrated depth of flavor while orange bitters help to balance some of the sweetness. Freshly squeezed orange juice is the non-alcoholic flavor base, and a big hit of fresh lime juice plants this co*cktail firmly in the bitter camp. Each sip of this vibrant co*cktail is like a bite into a supple sour orange. After the citrus subsides, the complexity of the tequila comes through, making for one damn tasty beverage. And I’ll have to say that the color here just makes me smile :)!

Servings 1 co*cktail
Ingredients
- 1 ounce Olmeca Altos Añejo Tequila
- 1 ounce Aperol
- 1/2 ounce orange liqueur
- 1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 2 dashes orange bitters
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a co*cktail shaker with ice. Cap and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a short tumbler filled with ice. I think the color alone here makes this co*cktail gorgeous, but if you feel the need to garnish, you can add an orange wedge or strip of orange zest.

You know what’s crazy, I was at the Ralph’s in Hillcrest today and they were SAMPLING this tequila! BEST SAMPLE STATION ever! They made a 3 sip margarita so I didn’t have to do a shot at 1pm 🙂 not that you would have had to twist my arm. Your drink looks awesome and love all the ways you’ve been using the tequila the past few weeks!
