Cindy J. McAfee, 69, of Louisville, KY, met with her heavenly father on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 with her mother, and Joe her cousin beside her. She was a loving and wonderful daughter of Delores and Ward McAfee and was cherished by her grandmother Juanita Settles and grandfather Henry Settles.

Cindy was very caring and giving, always ready to help others, and first at attending to the sick and needy. Cindy graduated from Presentation Academy, and at that time decided to make nursing her career.

Cindy graduated from UofL nursing, receiving her B.S.N. degree, and went on to obtain her masters degree from Spaulding University. She began her nursing career in 1976 at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. Cindy was a charge nurse, head nurse, and also supervisor. She was a supervisor at Suburban Hospital. Then Cindy took a position at the VA Hospital where she worked until her passing.

Cindy was devoted to her religion and was a member at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. She belonged to the "Aces" Club at St. Alberts. Being a Kentucky Colonel made Cindy proud.

Cindy loved to travel. She went 3 times to Europe with her mother and her father. Italy was Cindy's favorite country.

She got so much pleasure being with her dogs, cats, and her horse "Tonka". She found a passion in horse riding and spent many hours riding her horse "Tonka" on bridled paths on Southern Parkway. She created a bond with her animals.

Cindy loved decorating and design. She had a booth at the Louisville Antique Mall.

She had many friends but was most proud of her 30 year friendship with Willa Knight, Pat Coppage, and Pat Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ward McAfee; her grandmother, Juanita Settles; and her grandfather, Henry Settles.

Our family would like to thank Willa Knight, Pat Jenkins, Pat Coppage, and Joe Ford for the loving and supporting care they gave to her in the hospital. Dr. Jesse Jenkins for his excellent care of Cindy and to all Baptist Hospital nurses. She would also like to thank her caregivers, Lesley Cruz, and Emma Alcatur.

She is survived by her mother Delores McAfee; her aunt Ann Kelley; cousins, Mary Ann (Jeff) McAfee, Becky (John) Beam, Sally Spurr, Barney (Sherry) Spurr, and many more cousins.

We would like for you to join us for the celebration of her mass at St. Albert The Great Church on February, 20th, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Lunch will follow at St. Alberts.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Louisville Humane Society.
